This piece is a set of video editing instructions I developed in my ENGL394: Business Writing course. This instruction set is designed for high school interns at the Conflict Resolution Center of Montgomery County (CRCMC). Having previously interned in CRCMC’s Digital Media Department, I was familiar with both their branding and their need for beginner-friendly resources. My instructions focus on teaching interns how to create simple TikTok-style videos using DaVinci Resolve. I developed the tutorial by walking through the editing process step by step, recording my screen, and then selecting detailed screenshots to illustrate each stage. The final product is presented here as a polished PDF.
This project showcases my ability to communicate technical information clearly to an audience with little prior knowledge. Feedback from my professor helped me refine the scope, shifting from broad editing instructions to highly targeted steps that fit CRCMC’s needs. I am especially proud of the visual design choices I made throughout the instructions. I used visuals to help ensure clarity for beginners. This project further highlights my strengths in instructional design, technical communication, and visual presentation. It also reflects my ability to adapt my communication style for specific audiences, a crucial skill for professional writing and the business world.
